Deuterium labelling by electrochemical splitting of heavy water

چکیده

Deuterium incorporation is crucial in organic synthesis and has wide applications the pharmaceutical industry. State-of-the-art H/D isotope exchange chemical defunctionalization for deuterium suffer from significant drawbacks, including expensive sources, low deuteration efficiency poor selectivity. In this perspective, we highlight an alternative pathway forming C-D bonds by electrocatalytic heavy water splitting (D2O) under mild conditions. addition, intrinsic mechanism examples of deuterated pharmaceuticals are discussed detail. Finally, present challenges facing field provide overall perspective on future research directions.
